Born on July 2, 1931, in Mt. Airy he was the son of the late Raymond Gwynne and Edna Mathews Brown. David owned and operated David Brown Excavating for a number of years as a heavy equipment operator and later as construction supervisor for Yeonas Homes and Pulte Homes. For years he operated Brown's Firewood and Mulch at the corner of Rt 27 and Watersville Road. He enjoyed going on cruises and driving his '56 T-Bird that he restored.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children: Linda A Fenton and husband D.J. of Mt. Airy and David D. (Danny) Brown, Jr. and wife Mary of Frederick; four grandchildren: Monica A. Russell and husband Chris, Amy Sullivan and husband Mike, Kerrie Brown and Matthew Brown and wife Angie all of Frederick; three great grandchildren: Riley Sullivan, Lily Brown and Sage Sullivan, two sisters: Virginia Swain of Mt. Airy and Florence Clower of Woodstock, VA; brothers and sisters-in-laws: Bill and Adele Henderson of Woodbine, Peggy and Tommy East of Mt. Airy and Brice and Julie Henderson of Henderson, TN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by three brothers: Gwynne, Preston and Walter Brown. The family would like to thank the staff of Homewood at Crumland Farms for the care of him during his illness. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, November 20, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy where services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 21. Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy. Memorial contributions may be made to Homewood Foundation, 7407 Willow Rd., Frederick, MD 21702, Attention: Shirley.
