Gladys was born July 20, 1936, in Schuyler to Frank and Louise (Reinke) Valish. She attended school at North Ward and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1954. During her high school years and following her marriage, she worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Schuyler. She later worked at the Fabric Shop in David City. On Dec. 9, 1956, Gladys and Earl L. Sedlacek were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Schuyler. They lived and farmed in rural Bruno. She was a member of the Brainard United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include: her husband, Earl; a son, Lyle (and wife, Debra) Sedlacek of Lincoln; a daughter, Lisa Urban of Wahoo; one sister, Betty Ruegge of Kingsburg, Calif.; a brother, Bern (and wife, Pat) Valish of Lexington; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Lamont Sedlacek.
