Martha Amelia Jewell was born in 1808 in Maine. She married Lynus Beemus on Febraury 25, 1827. He was from Ashtabula Ohio. They were parents of ten children, all born in Lewistown, Illinois.

Lynus was a farmer by trade , but hearing of the gold in California he wanted to try his luck. They came across the plains with a company bound for the gold fields in the early 1850's. Martha being the only member of the Church in her family persuaded him to stay in Utah.

They settled in Manti Utah in 1854. Record show that he was baptized in March 1858, and died three weeks later. Martha continued to live in Manti for another thrity-four years, and died there at the age of eighty-five.Daughter of Rev Levi Jewell or Juell (1769-1790)
and Judith Tewkwsbury Tewsbury or Tuxbur (1766-Bef 1828)
Married Lymus E Bemus Feb 25 1827 in Lewiston Fulon Il. Sealed Mar 25 1971 in the Salt Lake Temple.

On Dec 31 1859 in Manti, Sanpete, Utah, Martha married her second husband after the death of her first husband Lynes. She married Isaac Huff Losee in Manti, Sanpete, Utah. 1860, because of the hostile Indians, Isaac, Sarah, Martha and families, moved to Gunnison, Utah. In 1866, Isaac and his first wife moved with their children to a home near Spanish Fork. Martha choose to take her children back to Manti, where she lived until her death on Sept 11, 1892.
