Kathryn was a sixth-generation Californian descended from early gold rush pioneers. She attended Chico High and Chico State as well as St. John’s Episcopal Church in Chico. She loved life and enjoyed a youth full of mischievous adventures. She later lived many years in Sacramento, Calif., before settling in El Dorado with her husband, George. Together they owned the KAGE sheep ranch where Kathryn raised numerous prize-winning animals. She also served as Treasurer for the Sheet Metal Local 162 Retirement Club.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara W. Collens; and her nephew, Paul W. Collens. She is survived by her beloved husband, George; daughter, Mardi; son, Charles; niece, Janet Durant; and her daughters, Melanie and Melissa. She is additionally survived by her step-son, Walter Morris; brothers-in-law, John W. Collens and Kenneth Morris and his family; and lifelong friends and neighbors by whom she will be sorely missed.
Services will be private. Donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines."
