Eugene William Mounts age 75, passed on Saturday, September 27, 2014 in St. George, Utah while traveling. He was born in Santa Rosa, California to Noel and Nellie Mounts. The family relocated to Firebaugh, California. He picked cotton and guided the crop dusters to earn money to go to the movies on Saturday. He loved going to the movies his whole life. Movies and motorcycles were his first loves. He left high school and joined the United States Air Force at the age of 16 only to be discovered and honorably discharged. At 17 his mother signed for his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Marine from that day forward. After serving six years in the Corps, he joined the Los Angeles Police Department and served over twenty years, the last ten on motors retiring as a Motor Sergeant. He earned his Associate in Arts Degree at Los Angeles Valley College. Off duty hours he worked with the television, movie industry and then full-time after retirement. He had many stories to tell about those he worked with and things that happened on set and location. He was so grateful that he got to work in an industry he admired as a child and on a motorcycle. Recently he converted his beloved Honda Goldwing into a trike so he could still ride. He and his wife were charter members of the recently organized GWRRA Chapter AZ-O. He rode a motorcycle in all 50 states as well as most of Canada and some of Mexico.
He loved the River and began his life on the River in the late 60's; always had a boat; loved to water ski; then moved on to a Tri-Toon party boat. December 2000 he and Linda retired to Mohave Valley and joined Bullhead City Elks Lodge #2408. He served as Exalted Ruler for the 2007-2008 term and again six-months of the 2013-2014 term. He and his wife visited 49 states, including an Alaskan adventure in 2008, in their diesel coach. His beloved black labs always traveled with them. He was also active in the Elks Gad A Bouts travel club. He always had a joke, story or hat for every occasion.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Mohave Valley Ariz; his daughter Christina Walker; granddaughter, Rachael Walker and grandson, Garrett Walker, all of Cornelius N.C.; his sister, Donna Downum; nephew Tim (Lily) Downum; and niece, Debbie (Bill) O'Brien all of Fresno Calif; brother Dale Thornton of Ukiah Calif; step-daughters, Kaaren (Scott) Hollister, Lompoc Calif; Karlee (Curt) of Mayfield, Fresno Calif.; and stepson, Christopher (Linda) Griffin, Palmdale Calif; as well as step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and all his brothers and sisters of Bullhead City Elks Lodge #2408
A Celebration of his Life will be held Sunday, November 9, 2014, 11:00am at the Bullhead City Elks Lodge 1745 Emerald Drive Bullhead City Arizona.
