GILBERT SANDERS
Gilbert Sanders, 71, of Grapeland and formerly of Sweetwater, died at 9:15 a.m. today at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple.
Services are pending with McCoy Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 2, 1913 in Collin County, he married Ada Walton on Sept. 8, 1934 in Roscoe. He was a carpenter and lived most of his life in Sweetwater. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Rebecca Scott of Houston; two sons, Samuel Sanders of Odessa and Timothy Sanders of Granbury; three sisters, Betty Moore of Grapeland, Nancy Walton of Sweetwater and Rosie Lathum of California; two brothers, Everett Sanders and Bert Sanders, both of Sweetwater; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
