Edwin Reeves Rites Set at Sweetwater


Sweetwater, Dec. 31 - Funeral for Edwin Clay Reeves, 66, who died at his home here Tuesday at 8:35 p.m., was to be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Cate-Spencer Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. George Wilson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, was to officiate. Burial was set for Sweetwater Cemetery.


Mr. Reeves, a long-time employe of the Pace Packing Company, had been in serious condition since undergoing surgery in an Abilene hospital on Nov. 2. He was moved home three weeks ago and had been in critical condition about 10 days.


Born in Henrietta, Clay County, on Nov. 12, 1887, Mr. Reeves was reared in Ennis, where he married the former Ivey Harris in 1911. They moved from Ennis to Sweetwater in 1925 and had lived here since.


He is survived by his wife; one son, Clay Reeves of Sweetwater; and two grandchildren.
