Leadus R. Armes, Sgt.Maj. USMC (RET.), 93, of Simpsonville, passed away November 18, 2015.

Born in Hardinsburg, KY he was the son of the late Percy and Hazel Gordon Armes.

Sergeant Major Armes retired from the United States Marine Corps after 24 years of service. He fought during the Pacific Theatre earning five Combat Stars, the Expeditionary Medal, and the Individual Combat Medal. He was part of the Marine Unit present into Tokyo Bay Japan at the surrender of the Japanese to the Allied Forces in WWII. His career also spanned time in Korea and the Dominican Republic.

He was a partner in the Southern Pen Shop, Greenville and attended Woodruff Church of God.

Surviving are his children, William Armes and his wife Felicia, of Simpsonville; Susan Kahley and her husband Joe of Greenville; and Donna K. Harvley and her husband Jim of Mauldin; his grandchildren, Lura Culclasure; Stacey Coonan; Amanda Carroll; Kimberly Reitz; and Emily Armes; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ola Mae Nelson Armes; his second wife, Hazel Arnold Armes; and his brother Rudy Armes.
