Ann Smith Grace, Summerhill Nursing Home, Perry, GA, was promoted to Eternal Life on November 18, 2015. She was born April 5, 1933 in Ashburn and moved to Macon as a child.

She was educated in local schools and graduated from LaGrange College with a degree in religion and early childhood education. She received her Master’s Degree from Georgia College and State University.

A life-long educator, she taught in Albany for two years, two years at Stratford Academy in Macon, and almost thirty years in the Bibb County School System. She taught third grade at Joseph N. Neel School and first grade at Joseph B. Riley School and Minnie Burghard School. She was a member of Retired Teacher’s Association and several professional education associations.

She was a charter member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church and was the first pianist and organist at Forest Hills United Methodist Church when it was organized in 1963. She was a member of the Grace Bible Class and also active in the Dorcas Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was an active member of the Exchangettes of Bibb County where she was named as Outstanding Exchangette. She later joined the Macon Exchangette Club and served on several committees.

She was the widow of Leonard C. Grace, her husband of 56 years (married in 1958) and proceeded in death by her son George Lloyd Grace, her parents, her brother George W. Smith. She is survived by daughter-in-law Gwen Grace and grandson Wesley Alexander Grace of Warner Robins, and a nephew Michael (Debbie) Smith and one niece Sandy Smith of Helena, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at Forest Hills United Methodist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park. Hart’s Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church organ fund and Heart of Georgia Hospice.
