Rebekah Marcell ”Granny” Taylor, 75, of Hardin, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Thursday November 5, 2015 in Baytown, Harris County, Texas.

Service for Mrs. Taylor will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday November 22, 2015 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home Chapel at 1304 N. Cleveland St., Dayton, Texas. The Reverend Tim Gruver will officiate. Soloist will be Brother Gary Downey. Pallbearers will be Gene Childress, Kevin Taylor, Ken Childress, Jeff Taylor, Gene Sealy, Clifton Wedgman. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Taylor, Jim Daniel, L.L. Williams, Jerry Beasley and Micah Pete. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin, Texas. Visitation for Marcell will be Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil in Dayton.

Rebekah Marcell Childress was born November 6, 1939 in Houston, Harris County, Texas to her parents; Marvin Oakley Childress and Ruth Loraine Royall Childress. After graduating from Milby High School, Marcell married her sweetheart, Clifton “Wayne” Taylor. Granny was always very active in the churches they attended and worked with Special Needs programs in the WMU in Louisiana and was also very active in WMU in Texas. She was a member of Heights Baptist church in Liberty. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Marcell was preceded in death by her parents: M. O. and Ruth Childress; husband; Wayne Taylor and daughter: Tracy Kaye Taylor and brother: Ron Childress. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughters: Wendy Pete & husband, Bob of Texarkana, Texas and Kelly Robertson of London, England; Grandson: Micah Pete; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law: Tom and Jean Taylor of Flatonia, Texas, and numerous other relatives and loving friends.
