Lewis Furman Barnes, 88, of 293 Wayne’s Trail and husband of the late Gladys Hanks Barnes, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015, at NHC in Clinton. Born in Laurens Co., he was a son of the late Avery Mark and Susie Brown Barnes. A member of Bellview Baptist Church, Mr. Barnes was a former mobile home manufacturer and was retired from First Baptist Church of Laurens. He is survived by: his children, Deborah B. Watts and husband Richard of Laurens and Mike Barnes and wife Ginny of Laurens; grandchildren, Steven Rowland, Star Croy, Melissa Jones, and Michelle Spires; six great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Barnes was predeceased by sons, Barry and Gary Barnes and a granddaughter, Allison Watts. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Bellview Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Adam Powers with burial in the church cemetery. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at Bellview Baptist Church, Saturday, November 21, 2015, from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
