Donald J. Turman, born in Noonday, February 19, 1931, died at his home Nov. 16, 2015. He is survived by his wife, of almost 60 years, Laura Knight Turman; son, Stephen Turman; daughters, Donna Turman, Diane Maxey and Joy Lindecke; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was the son of the late Benjamin F. Turman and Ima I. Turman. He is also survived by two sisters, Bennie Rhyne of Hughes Springs and Peggy Flihan of Encinitas, CA. A 1947 graduate of Tyler High School, he joined the Navy in 1948 and served three years. He graduated from Texas A&M Commerce (formerly East Texas State University) and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1964. He was in private practice for many years before retiring in 1999. Visitation will be at Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and a graveside service will be Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Hawthorne Cemetery, Noonday. His family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers, Dayna Fields and Pam Williams, who made his final days at home comfortable and loving.
