Nina Efird Parker, 82, of New Bern, passed away peacefully in her sleep, August 26, 2014 at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

She was born February 24, 1932 in Kinston, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bascom L. Efird and Bessie Marshburn Efird; her sisters, Irene Mewborn, Peggy Mercer, Vickie Lou Efird; and brother, B. L. Efird Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Theophilus Wilson Parker; her sons, T.W. Parker Jr. and wife Lori, Johnny Parker and wife Brenda; her daughters, Ruth Millar and husband Randy, Kim Daugherty and husband Dewey; eight grandchildren, Trey Parker, Kelly Gardner, Parker Millar, Matthew Parker, Hannah Millar, Holly Millar, Misty Padgette and Mindy McQueary; and two great-grandchildren, Claire Gardner and Coulby McQueary. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Sumrell and husband Charles of Lake Placid, FL.

She was a dedicated and active member of Sherwood Forest Freewill Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Cotten Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held Friday, August 29, 2014 at Sherwood Forest Free Will Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with the Reverend John Moran and Reverend Jerry Rackley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenleaf Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sherwood Forest Free Will Baptist Church, 2601 Neuse Boulevard, New Bern, NC 28562.
