Chauncy Sackett
BELLEVUE, May 2--The community was shocked Monday morning upon learning of the death during the night of two of Bellevue's prominent men. Chauncey Sackett, 72. was discovered dead in bed by his housekeeper, Mrs. Ida Stiles. Mr. Sackett was in his usual health Saturday, having plowed his garden and was seen on the streets Saturday night.
The deceased is survived by two sons, Fred and Frank of Battle Creek; three grandchildren; 1 great grandchild of Jackson and one sister, Mrs. Emma Madison of Charlotte.
Mr. Sackett was prominently identified with the local I. O. O. F. order. Mrs. Sackett died two years ago.
[Note: Census and other records show a mix of spellings of Sackett/Sackitt for Chauncey. His children and descendants usually spell the surname as Sackitt.]
