Services for William T. Collett, 47, who died at 9 p.m. Monday, were held at 4 p.m. today at Cate-Spencer Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. Charles Reece, pastor of First Christian Church, officiated. Burial was in Sweetwater Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian; a son, Robert, of Sweetwater; his mother, Mrs. Leon Collett, of Roaring Springs; five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bounds of Abilene, Renee Steele of Pampa, Bonnie Reynolds of Cleburne, Lawanda Lamm of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Peggy Collett; and a grandson.

Pallbearers will be Tom Watson, A. E. Fortune, Wade Wills, Levi Robertson, Pete Myers and Ralph Allen.

SWEETWATER MAN DIES IN JAIL

Sweetwater – William T. Collett Jr., 47, died about 9 p.m. Monday at the Nolan County Jail. Sheriff Joe Slater said Collett was being held over the weekend on a DWI charge.

Justice of the Peace Thomas Greene pronounced Collett dead and ordered an autopsy. The cause of death had not been determined Tuesday night and an investigation into the death was continuing, officers said.

Services are pending with Cate-Spencer Funeral Home.

Born Oct. 18, 1929, in White Deer, he was formerly manager of the Dr. Pepper Bottling Co. in Sweetwater and more recently was a sign painter.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian; and a son, Robert, all of Sweetwater; five sisters, including Ruth Grounds of Abilene; and his parents.
