LaToya Te'Nae Cooper, 32, of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 surrounded by her family.

She was born April 6, 1983, the daughter of Melvin and Linda (Hughes) Cooper.

LaToya graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 2002 and attended Owens Community College right after graduation. She was employed at Mushasi Auto Parts and co-managed and enjoyed the foods at her family owned Coop-de-Grille Southern Style Cooking.

LaToya is survived by her daughter, RaMyiah Cooper-Alexander of Battle Creek; twin sister LaTisha Cooper of Nashville, TN; sister Symica Gilkey-Cooper, of Decatur, GA; brothers, Terrence Cooper of Detroit, MI, and Torlando (TaKela) Cooper of Kalamazoo, MI. She was preceded in death in early years by sister, CaMille Re'Nae Hughes-Cooper.

LaToya loved the game of basketball and had the experience of traveling with the other team members to Japan. She definitely enjoyed giving to everyone as much as she could, she took pride in making people smile by her joy and humor. She enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, bike riding, working hard to provide and spend time with her daughter.

Visitation will be held at Second Baptist Missionary Church, 485 Washington on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 11:00 with funeral, service at 12:00 pm. Arrangements by Whitley Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 330 North Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Interment will take place at Battle Creek Memorial Park, Battle Creek, MI
