One of the founders of Worcester, being on the committee by the General Court in Boston on October 24,1668 to plan a settlement in Quinsigamond alias Worcester. A signer of the first Indian Land Deed in Worcester on July 13, 1674 in the Middlesex Registry of Deeds. A Veteran of King Philip's War as a Commanding Officer of a Company of Foot. In charge of the second settlement of Worcester in 1684 to grant land. Henchman's son Nathaniel kept a tavern on the property in 1684. Little is known of his early life, he was a school teacher in Boston in 1666.
Buried on the original 25 acre property known as Henchman Farm in an unknown and unmarked grave. Henchman's land was located east of John Wing's Mills on the southerly part of Lincoln St formerly the Country Road.
Of the Committee of 1668 Captain's Daniel Gookin, Daniel Henchman, Thomas Prentice and Lt. Richard Beers, only Henchman is buried in Worcester.
In memory of Captain Daniel Henchman, the City of Worcester named Henchman Street in his honor.
