TAMPA, FLA. -- Doris Faye Lindsey Henson was called home suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, April 9, 2015, in Tampa, Florida. Born in Vina, Alabama, Doris was predeceased by her parents, Johnny and Hazel Lindsey, and her beloved brother, Johnny Ray Lindsey.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Leslie (Buddy), and three children, John (Noreen), Chad and Elizabeth. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, Kyle Henson, Sarah Henson, Jacob Henson, Maggie Henson, Christine Vance, Tyler Vance, Ian Henson, Caleb Henson; two devoted nieces, Carrie Lindsey Pharr and Leah Lindsey Wooten (Cody); and grandniece, McKenna.

Doris committed herself to nursing for 57 years where she applied her gifted skills to providing the most compassionate and skilled care to her patients. Through this devotion she developed countless friendships with colleagues and family members of her patients. She recently retired to care for her adoring husband and enjoyed having the time to visit and chat with those she so loved. Doris served as the best possible example to her children and grandchildren through her work ethic, absolute love and amazing tenacity in her care for others. While we will never fill the enormous void that now exists in our hearts, it is comforting to know that she is now at home with her brother, Johnny Ray. It is also our belief that she will have Neil Diamond playing 24/7 and have the best hair forever more. The family will hold a private memorial.
