KNOX CITY, Mo. — Mrs. Maggie L. Murphy, 89, of Knox City, retired from farming with her husband, died Saturday afternoon (Sept. 9, 1991) in a Quincy, Ill. hospital.
Born May 20, 1902, in Stahl, Mrs. Murphy was a daughter of George Washington and Hannah Jane Scobbee [sic] Shollenbrger. She was a Catholic and longtime Knox County resident.
On June 23, 1923, she married Ray Murphy in Macon. He died Dec. 7, 1978.
Survivors include niece and nephew raised in her home, Lenora Sutherlin of Martendale, Iowa, and John Anesi of Bartlesville, Okla.
Graveside services were conducted today in Knox City Cemetery by the Rev. Clarernce Wiederholt. The Coder Funeral Chapel, La Belle was in charge of arrangements.
