Emma Jane Reed Mar. 13, 1929 - Nov. 17, 2015 SOUTH BEND -

Emma Jane Reed, 86, of South Bend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. She was born in Rock Rapids, Iowa, on March 13, 1929, to the late George and Jenny Mulder. She was raised in a God-fearing home with her four siblings.

Emma Jane met her husband, Reverend Charles A. Reed II, at Northwestern Bible College where they both committed to become overseas missionaries. The Lord had other plans for them. They were led to stay in the States and served in the pastorate which they did for the duration of their ministry. They served in Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana and Michigan.

Emma is survived by sons, Rodger Reed of Clarkston, MI, and Jim (Beth Ann) Reed of South Bend; grandchildren, John Michael and Matthew Alan (Sarah) Trerice, Autumn Renee and April Jane Reed; and great-grandson, Noah Trerice. Also survived by stepgrandchildren, Joseph (Channon) and David Tabor and Carrie (Rick) Compau. Surviving sisters are Frances Harms and Lois Boone; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Linder and Cheryl (Larry) Dulude.

Preceded in death by husband, the Rev. Charles Reed; daughter, Charlene Trerice; son, Charles III; sister, Helene Kanen-geiter; and brother, Kenneth Mulder; sister-in-law, Jeanette Mulder; brothers-in-law, Alvin DeBerg, John Harms and Donald Linder.

Our mother reflected the strength of her faith in God in the way she handled life's challenges. She was a counselor, homemaker and an ever-present encouragement to her husband's ministry. We feel we and those she came in contact with have had their lives enriched by knowing her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Reed will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend, 46628, corner of Bendix and Cleveland Road, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21st. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Granger. Friends will be received from 4:00-8:00 pm Friday, November 20th, at Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
