Funeral Services for Melvin Hines, 16; services held in Sac City with burial in Newell; dies in hospital at Carroll.

Melvin James Hines, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Hines, was born December 24, 1915, and passed away after a short illness at the Saint Anthony hospital at Carroll, Iowa, on Monday, October 17, 1932, at the age of 16 years, nine months and 17 days.

Melvin or "Bud" as he was familiarly called by all his relatives and friends, was the fifth child of a family of nine children. He made friends easily and was very popular among his friends.

He leaves to mourn his early passing, his father and mother, six sisters, Mrs. Edna Austin of Sac City, Leona, Vira, Velma, Edith and Avis and two brothers, Glenn and Dale, at home, a nephew, Leonard Dean, a grandmother, Mrs. W. H. Hunter, and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at Sac City at the Christian church and the body was then brought to Newell cemetery for burial. A large crowd of friends came here from the church for the cemetery services.

Pall bearers were Dwight Haradon, Lawrence Means, Dale Simpson, Bhyrl Simpson, Faye Lewis, Dwight Simpson, Clive Simpson, Artie Simpson, David Mason, Earl Van Vleet, Johnnie Van Vleet, and Donald Platt.
