Born in Rohleder (Raskaty) Russia to Franz Peter Brungardt and Anna Maria Müller. He moved to Herzog in 1791 and shows up in the Stefan Topler (Doppler) family married to Anna Maria Doppler in the 1798 Herzog census. Andreas Brungardt's brother, Jacob Brungardt also moved from Rohelder to Herzog in 1795 and was married to Juliana Goetz, daughter of Georg Goetz. Most if not all of the Brungardt descendants that immigrated to the US were from Andreas rather than Jacob. However, see discussion of Elizabeth Brungardt married Christopher Wassinger below.

Per the 1798 Rohleder census; per the Herzog Census of 1798, 1834, 1850, 1857, and the Herzog Family List 1878-1912; per the Graf Census of 1834, 1850, 1857, and copies of selected Russian church baptism and marriage records, the descendants of this Andreas Brungardt and his wife Anna Maria Doppler are as follows (not all children shown):

A. Johannes Brungardt(1792-aft. 1857) marries Anna Maria Dreiling (1794-aft. 1857)
1. Katharina Brungardt (1817-bef. 1876) marries John Kuhn (1814-1877)
2. Balthasar Brungardt (1822-1903) marries Margartha Schamne (1824-)
a. Peter B Brungardt (1845-1925)
b. Johannes Brungardt (1850-1906)
c. Catharine Brungardt (1858-1915) marries Peter Riedel
d. Margaret Brungardt (1858-1900) marries Andrew Linenberger
3. Anna Maria Brungardt (1825-1909) marries Johann Adam Riedel
4. Johannes Brungardt (1836-aft. 1885) marries Anna Appelhans (1838-aft. 1885)
a. Johannes D. Brungardt (1863-1937) marries 4 times.

B. Georg Brungardt (1794- marries (1st) Dorothea There (1793-Abt 1822)
marries (2nd) Anna Katharine Braun (1805-?) about 1823
1. Anna Katharine Brungardt (1824-1902) marries Johannes Sander
2. Johannes Brungardt (1830-1866) marries Anna Katharina Betigheimer? (1831-?)
a. Anna Maria Brungardt (1851-1889) marries Henry Paul
3. Adam Brungardt(1835-1916) marries Katharine Sander
4. Barbara Brungardt (1856-1906) marries Henry Paul

C. Michael Brungardt (1803-1863) marries Barbara Nussbaum (1810-Aft.1857)
1. Anna Brungardt (1838-1884) marries Johannes Wittman

D. Franz Brungardt (1805-1876) marries Anna Maria Riedel
1. Johannes Brungardt (1837-?) married Anna Maria Goetz (1837-?) (remained in Russia)
a. John B. Brungardt (1859-1915)
b. John Brungardt (1861-1916)

E. Valentin Brungardt (1915-1839) marries Margaret Riedel (1813-?)
1. Anna Maria Brungardt (1835-?) marries Johannes Linenberger (1833-?)
a. Anna Linenberger (1865-1957) marries Johannes Knoll

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The two-volume Brungardt Genealogy book published by Helen L. Hall in 1968 includes the descendants of five Brungardt men and two Brungardt women. There are a number of errors in this genealogy book because the author did not have access to the Russian records. She treats all seven as siblings and children of Adam Brungardt and wife Katharine Dreiling. This couple does not exist in the Russian records. Most of Volume 1 of the Brungardt Genealogy includes the descendants of Franz Brungardt and Anna Maria Riedel. None of his siblings immigrated and typically the others listed in the book are his nieces or nephews from his older brothers as shown above.

Additional comments on specific families below

Volume 1
1. Franz Brungardt married Anna Maria Riedel (Family D above)
a. John Balthasar Brungardt married Marianna Goetz (remained in Russia). She is listed as Anna Maria Goetz in the Russia records.

2. John George Brungardt married married Margaret Rome (Family B above)
This is an older brother of Franz Brungardt and only an overview is given in Vol. 1. With both children marrying Sanders, details were given in Vol. 2 under Magdalena Sander (#5) below. Helen L Hall appears to have missed the wives of Henry Paul in this section perhaps because they were not closely tied to the Victoria, KS Brungardts. His wife's name in this genealogy book does not match either of his two wives in the Russia church and census records.

3. Balthasar Brungardt married Margaret Schamne (Family A2 above)
This Balthasar, John Brungardt (#4) and Katharine Brungardt (#7) were siblings and descended from Franz Brungardt's oldest brother, Johannes and wife Anna M Dreiling. Helen L Hall appears to have missed their sister Anna Maria who married Adam Riedel.

4. John Brungardt married Anna Appelhans (Family A4 above)
nephew to Franz Brungardt

Volume 2
5. Magdalena Brungardt married Peter Sander
This family is actually Magdalena Helena Bach married to Adam Sander. So the only Brungardt descendants in this section are the two children of Georg Brungardt who married Sanders. See Magdalena Bach for more information.

6. Elizabeth Brungardt married Christopher Wassinger
a. Nickolus Wasinger (1838-1894)
Her was name was actually Anna Maria Brungardt (1801-aft 1857) per the 1834, 1850, and 1857 census and per Nickolus Wasinger's Russian baptism record. He was their only descendant to immigrate to the US. Die Herzoger adds Johannes Wasinger as a son of these parents (not in the Brungardt genealogy book) but he had a different Christoph Wasinger father.
It was not possible to establish the ancestry of Anna Maria Brungardt (1801). There were very few births recorded around 1800. Moreover, there are no Russian church records preserved in the 1817-1826 year range when she might have married leaving a record listing her parents. Andreas Brungardt and Anna Maria Doppler already had a daughter named Anna Maria born 1797 and listed in the 1798 Herzog census. So a reasonable assumption might be that the Anna Maria who married Christoph Wasinger was from Andreas' brother Jacob Brungardt and Julianna Goetz. However, infant mortality was common back then so this relationship is not proven.

7. Katherine Brungardt married Johannes Kuhn (Family A1 above)
She was a niece to Franz Brungardt. This section of the book is only ~90 pages in length and does not document many of her descendants because the author could not obtain family information. If she had, this section would probably require a separate volume to list all the descendants of this couple.

Most likely buried in the Herzog cemetery. The village was abandoned in the 1900s and no longer exists. Only a few crumbling headstones exist at the site of the former cemetery located at 51.493273N, 46.706912E.
