She was born in Plymouth, WI, on August 31, 1924, the daughter of Leslie J. and Lucille Ingram Wetzel.She attended school in Plymouth and graduated, Salutatorian of her class from Plymouth High School in 1942. On June 7, 1946,
Shirley was united in marriage to Charles A. Koch at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Plymouth.Together with her husband, Rev. Charles Koch, they served churches in Rice Lake, Greenwood and New Holstein, WI. They moved to Sheboygan in 1970 to serve St. Paul's U.C.C. until his retirement in 1989.She was employed part-time in the Educational Resource Center at Lakeshore Technical College, 1971-1986.
In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed reading, traveling and doing crossword puzzles.She was a former Sunday School teacher and she was a member of the Women's Guild Mary Circle at St. Paul's U.C.C.. She was also a member of the Lakeland College Women's Auxiliary, Friends of Mead Public Library, Sheboygan County Audubon Society, and Red Cross Volunteer.
Survivors include; three children, Emmy Lu (David) Reiser, of Huffman, TX, Charles Jr. (Kate) of Tucson, AZ, Linda (Dan) Durocher, of Pound, WI; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (Gerald) Picard, Plymouth, WI, and Judith Wiechert, Cedarburg, WI. She is survived by other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her parents and a sister, Helen.
Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
