J. W. Gossett
J. W. Gossett, a prominent resident of Cowpens, route 1, died at his home yesterday morning. Mr. Gossett was born, reared and lived all his life in this county. He was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church and the Woodsmen of America. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Carrie Gossett and ten children: Fred Gossett of Chesnee route 3; Ezra Gossett and Mrs Addie Spencer of Cowpens route 1; Willard Gossett of Chesnee; J. W. Gossett Jr. of San Franciso, Cal; Oliver Gossett at Camp Perry, VA; Mrs. Emma Lewis of Cowpens route 1, and Lewis Gossett of Charleston: two sisters, Mrs. Andrew McCraw of Cowpens route 1 and Mrs. Andrew Cash of Cowpens route 3; three brothers, A. L. Gossett and F. O. Gossett of Cowpens route 1, and Charlie Gossett of Rock Hill; also by 36 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church at 4 o'clock this afternoon by the Rev. C. W. Simms, the Rev. Glenn Felmet and the Rev. E. W. Buckner. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Paul Sellars, James Genobles, Mac Gossett, Elden McCraw, Marvin McCraw and Jesse Genobles. Flower bearers will be Elsie Gossett, Ethel Gossett, Nellie Gossett, Myrtle Gossett, Oscarline Sellars and Mary McCraw. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. S. D. Reid, Joe Collins, Bill Martin, Jim Cudd, Curt Lewis, Dewey Scruggs, T. C. Cash and Walter Coleman. They have been asked to meet at the church at 3:45 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Arrangements are in charge of the M. W. Bobo funeral chapel.
