Philip Dewayne Abernathy, 48, of North Main Street, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX.
Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the West Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Michael Bingham of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, will officiate. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery (new section). Visitation will be 9 am to 8 pm on Friday at West Funeral Home.
Philip Abernathy was born to Charles Irby Abernathy and Barbara Sue (Greenway) Abernathy on July 30, 1967 in Carlsbad, NM.
Philip was known as a joker with a servant’s heart who never met a stranger. He brought great joy and laughter to those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, son Michael Abernathy, brothers: Aaron, Joel and Michael Abernathy and nephew Charles Matthew Abernathy.
Philip is survived by his father Irby Abernathy of Carlsbad, daughter Amber Abernathy of Arlington, TX, brother Jeremy Abernathy of Carlsbad and sisters: Rhonda Royer of Lake Boat Key, FL, Kimberly Dibble of Dallas, TX and Joanna Harden of Carlsbad; 2 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Shawn McCarty, A.J. Price, Alfred Carrasco, Gabe Carrasco, Jory Payton, Joe Pulice, David McCormick and Burt Hubbard.
