Oct. 10, 1916 - Nov. 24, 2007 The memorial service for Mrs. Holt-Whitlow will be Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, 2800 Georgia St., Vallejo, CA. Private family interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Park. Agnes Ellen Dewar was born Oct. 10, 1916 in Chicago, IL. She went to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 in Medford, OR. where she had lived the past year to be closer to her two daughters. She was a resident of Vallejo from 1945 until her move to Oregon in 2006. She had been a member of the Community Presbyterian Church since 1947 where she spent 51 years singing in the Chancel Choir and had directed two children's choirs. Music and singing were her passion. In Chicago, she was a member of an all women's vocal group called the Stardusters. The Stardusters appeared on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour radio show and won first prize. She was retired from the California Maritime Academy in 1975 where she was the administrative assistant to the schools president. She had the distinction of being the first Dean of Women to accompany the first class of midshipwomen of the CMA on their initial training cruise aboard the Golden Bear. In 1943 in Chicago, IL she married Roy A. Holt who preceded her in 1966. She later married Warren W. Whitlow in 1975 who preceded her in 2000. Survivors include two daughters: Nancy Miller (Wade) of Rogue River, OR and Ellen Murray (Denis) of Ashland, OR, two grandchildren: Keith Miller of Cordelia, CA and Mandi Miller of Medford, OR one great grandchild: Emma Miller of Kelso, Australia, two step-children: Harold Whitlow (Pat) of Byron, CA and Shirley Eggers of Pleasanton, CA, three step-grandchildren: Scott Barradas, Todd Barradas and Samantha Wagoner and five step-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to: Community Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, Parkinsons Disease Research or your favorite charity. Memory-Gardens Mortuary in Medford, OR in care of arrangements.
