He was born December 2, 1927, in Pocahontas County, a son of the late Amos and Ida Mae Burgess George. His mother died when he was two or three years old and he was raised by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Burgess, of Woodrow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Angelene Verna Kenady George, who died in March, 1970; his second wife, Elna Christine Glass George, who died in 2006; one daughter, Vickey George, and one brother, Dempsey George.
He is survived by one daughter, two grandsons; one grandaughter, two great-grandsons and one sister. He was a master electrician and the owner of Harmon George Electric. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
