Martha Mae Courtney (Pierce), age 78, one of four children was born in Versailles, Kentucky on March 15, 1935 to Elizabeth and Roy Courtney. During her first marriage she had three children, Vicky Roark, Billy Hicks and Marcie Hicks. During her second marriage she had two more daughters Amanda Gould and Barbara Jo Allen. On July 3, 1973, Martha married James Pierce with his five children, Jenny Welch, Patty Pierce, Jimmy Pierce, Barry Pierce and Carol Hicks. Together they raised a beautiful family with seven grandchildren, Johnny, Michelle, Mikey, and wife Bethany, Justin and wife Melissa, Amanda and husband Mike, Jessica and husband Andy, and Robbie, and sixteen great grandchildren. They resided in a beautiful home in El Dorado Springs. A home where the door was always open to anyone. She loved to conversate and was the first at the table for any family card game. You could not meet Martha without becoming family. She loved everyone and everything around her. Her heart was kind, forgivable, and unconditional. If you were sad or troubled, she had her own unique way of making you smile and feel loved. She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Ward and Helen Garman. Martha will be truly missed and remembered by all her family and friends.
