Ray Clifford Black, 84, of Rogue River died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at his home.No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.since1928hull.com.He was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Portland to Clifford and May Black. During World War II, he served in the Army. He was in Germany and Belgium and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Over the years, he worked in various jobs, including work as a mechanic for Bechtel Corporation, and he retired from DynCorp in 1990.He enjoyed his family and helping others. He also enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and cars.In addition to his wife, Arlene Black, survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Ponce and Sharleen Hicks; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.A stepson, Lance Rawlings, died before him.
