JUNE MARY CHRISNER, 81, died Monday, August 21, 2006, at an Abilene medical center.
The daughter of Mary Elizabeth (Glendenning) and Francis Joseph Pommerville, Jr., she was born on June 13, 1925, in Duluth, Minnesota, where she was reared. She married Herman F. Chrisner on June 13, 1953, in Austin, Texas, and moved from Austin to Abilene in 1971. The couple were foster parents to more than fifty children before his death in 1996.
Mrs. Chrisner also worked a few years for both Mike Jackson Kitchens and Herald of Truth, in Abilene.
As an active member of Highland Church of Christ, she was involved in the Special Calling Ministry, a ministry of the church to help people who were unable to leave their homes. She was also active in the Herald of Truth.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Chrisner was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her stepfather, Olaf Olson, who helped rear her; sisters, Loretta Olson and Lucille Sundre; and brothers, Dale Pommerville and Glen Pommerville.
Survivors include her son, Glenn Henry Chrisner of Abilene; a grandson, Christopher Chrisner, and great-granddaughter, June Ann Chrisner, both of Austin; a brother, Robert Pommerville of Duluth, Minnesota; and sisters, Lois Stone of Newton, Iowa, and Frances Owens of Cumberland, Maryland.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Highland Church of Christ Atrium directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Davilla Cemetery near Bartlett, Texas.
