She had been a homemaker.
Peggy was a loving and supportive mother to two sons and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchild. She was a member of Black Star Pentecostal Church, where she attended services regularly throughout her early life. When Peggy was unable to attend church services in person she enjoyed reading her bible, listening to gospel music, and tuning in to the surrounding Christian services on television. She was loved by everyone she met, and could turn a stranger into a friend in mere minutes with her kind nature. On July 3, 1992 she married the late William “Bill” Barker.
Survived by her two sons, Michael S. Wilder (Tina Simpson) and Josh E. Gilbert (Amy), grandchildren, Courtney Wilder, Addison Wilder and Alex Simpson, great-grandchild, Paisley Ramsey, brother, Gary Dorton (Loretta and Melissa), sister, Pam Hubbard (Jr. and Michaela), and members of the Blevins family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who were close to Peggy, and assisted her throughout her life: Mamie Centers, Martha Stewart, Betty Philpot, Jeromy Killion, Josh and Victoria Riley, The EMS staff of Bell County and Knox County, the many staff members at Pineville Hospital, and Amedisys Home Healthcare.
