Edwin W. Hall, 84, of Lynchburg, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Glenna Fay Caudill Hall. Born February 11, 1931, in Altavista, he was the son of the late Herbert Marion Hall and the late Mazie Rolland Jordan Hall. Edwin was a retired cable splicing technician for Verizon where he served for 41 years and he was of the Methodist faith. Edwin also served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Some things that Edwin loved were his pets and his rides in the country.In addition to his wife and parents, Edwin was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Hall and James Hall; and two sisters, Kathleen Brennan and Edna Torrence.Edwin is survived by his four children, Steven Hall of Lynchburg, Karen Shields and her husband, Scott, of Rustburg, Carol Slaughter and her husband, Steve of Christiansburg, and James Hall of Lynchburg; three sisters, Nancy Caudill of Lynchburg, Barbara Cousins of Graham, N.C., and Patricia Caldwell and her husband, Luther, of Rustburg; five grandchildren, Jeff Shields, Hollie Shields, Jack Slaughter, Samuel Slaughter, and Ethan Slaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Keith Vinson officiating.
