Sarah Jane married Nelson Leonidas Cooley (1836-1865). Nelson died as a POW on January 1, 1865 in Camp Morton at Indianapolis, Indiana. He had been captured while serving as a Private with Company C, 7th Battalion Infantry. His corporal remains were interred in the Crown Hill Cemetery at Indianapolis.
