END OF A USEFUL LIFE
DEATH OF HON. ISAAC E. WIERMAN
In the demise of Judge Wierman, which occurred at his home, in Huntington Township, on Sunday Evening, our county loses one of the oldest and mot highly respected citizens, one who during his long and useful life enjoyed the confidence and esteem of all who knew him. He was born on the Wierman's Mill property, Mach 4 1802, and hence was in his 94th year. In 1832 he removed to the residence where death occurred. A life long and staunch Democrat, he held many township offices, and on the death of Dr. David Horner, as Associate Judge of Adams County, which occurred Feb. 9, 1858, he was appointed by Governor Parker to fill the vacancy. At the Democratic Convention of that year, Mr. Wierman was nominated by acclamation and elected. After a faithful service of five years he was re-nominated and elected, and completed the term of ten years with much credit. During the years of his active business life he filled many fiduciary trusts to the satisfaction of parties in interest.
In 1831 he married Miss Louisa Arnold, (dau. of Dr. John B. Arnold,) who died in 1880, aged 72 years. Having four children---Miss Sarah Virginia, who resides in the ancestral home, John A., living near by, Susan Emily, wife of J. W. Neely, of Tyrone Township, and Harriett I., wife of P. A. Myers, who lives in the vicinity.
Deceased was a member of the Society of Friends He remains will be interred at the Presbyterian grave yard at York Springs, Tomorrow, his wife's remains having been buried there. (RC)
