Sarah Hallahan Buckley was born on August 13, 1928 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert and Sarah [Researcher's Note: her mother was Lucy Brett, sister of Sarah who died in 1925] Hallahan. On December 29, 1948, she married Harry A. Buckley Jr. During the Korean War, she was a Red Cross Girl caring for wounded soldiers in Japan. In 1978, her husband Harry retired from the United States Army. They moved to Vermont where he worked at Norwich University. She became a Justice of the Peace and was active in her church. She also worked for 10 years in a local dentist office as a clerk. In 2007 Harry died and she moved to Washington State near her children. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and socializing for eight years at Patriot's Landing in DuPont, Washington. She was known as the Bishop of Patriot's Landing. She died on September 1, 2015 at Franciscan Hospice House located at University Place, Washington. Survivors included five children, three daughters-in-law, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral was held at St. John Bosco in Lakewood. Interment was at West Point, New York.
