Charlotte Gail Lembke Woods, age 100, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly Wales, Iowa passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Fox Run Assisted Living. She was born April 26, 1915 in Grove Township, Pottawattamie County, Iowa in the Wheeler Grove area near the town of Griswold. Her parents, both deceased, were George Edward and Ethel Easter (Palmer) Lembke. She was one of eleven children.

Charlotte and her husband Paul Woods were married December 22, 1936. They started their married life with Paul being a hired man for a farmer in the Wales area of Montgomery County for a year. They then rented a farm in the Stanton area until buying a farm near Wales in 1943. They remained on this farm the rest of their lives until Charlotte moved to Fox Run in 2009. They were active members and supporters of the former Wales Presbyterian Church.

Charlotte had a green thumb. She loved flowers and trees. She was extremely proud of, and spent many, many hours working in her manicured lawn. She was known to tell her two sons, "You know, I planted all these trees myself." Charlotte had a reputation for growing many different varieties of beautiful flowers, both annuals and perennials. She loved to travel and was always ready with a packed suitcase usually to visit her grandchildren. One memorable trip at the age of 92 was to Dubai to visit her grandson Todd, wife Natalie, and great grandson Lincoln. On that same trip, she was able to see the tulips in Holland for the first time. She was an avid collector and had an amazing skill and memory for cataloging items she found or received as gifts. For instance, she had a brick from Russia, many beautiful rocks and clocks from all around the world. She was a very caring person, always giving to all family members. You could always count on having roast beef, baked beans, chicken and noodles, and tapioca pudding on the table at all of the family gatherings.
In addition to her parents and husband (deceased, November 18, 2001), she was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Donnice Woods; and siblings, Delphia "Dolly" Hughes, Merle Lembke, Orlan Lembke, Virgil Lembke, Dorothy White, Velda Williams, Verda Clayton, Calvin Lembke, and Dwight Lembke.
She was the proud loving mother of her surviving sons: Gary Woods (Barb) of Council Bluffs and Jerry Woods (Dianne) of Urbandale; grandchildren: Todd Woods (Natalie) of Mercer Island, WA; Stacy Woods of Minneapolis, MN; Tyler Woods (Susan) of Glen Ellyn, IL; Tony Woods of Urbandale; and Brandon Woods of Ames; four great grandchildren: Lincoln and Emerson Woods (Todd) and Nile and Sylvia Woods (Tyler); brother: Doyle Lembke of Gretna, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Gomer Cemetery at Wales, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Lauritzen Gardens or the Red Oak Public Library.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
