Sept. 4, 1922–May 15, 2020
Pearl Vollmer Siewert was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Mobridge, S.D. Growing up during the tough times of the Great Depression, she learned to be frugal.
She attended country school for the first eight grades, then graduated from Plainview Academy in 1944. She next attended Walla Walla College in Washington and received her teaching certificate. She worked hard at many odd jobs to pay for her education. She worked as a nanny, at a canning factory, pencil factory, and as a waitress.
She married Aaron Siewert in 1948. She taught country school for three years, then devoted her time to her family. They lived many years on a ranch outside Bowdle, S.D., raising grain, hay and cattle. Not only was she a wonderful cook, making many German foods, but she also helped on the ranch, driving tractors and equipment, and helping with the cattle.
A few years ago they moved to Newcastle to be closer to their daughter, Tami Franklin. Aaron passed away shortly after moving here in June of 2014. Pearl lived at Mondell Heights for several years and was very happy there.
Survivors include her daughter, Tami (Chuck) Franklin, and son, Steve (Kathy) Siewert of West Brookfield, Mass.; granddaughter, Ginger (Dan) Fields; grandsons, Brandon (Raylene) and Jared (Jolene) Franklin; and four grandsons, Colter, Bridger, Bradley and Wesley.
She was a lifelong Christian and loved God. She looked forward to seeing her family and loved ones in heaven. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
