Dec. 27 - Gooseville: The community was greatly shocked by the tragic death of Carl Dennis Thursday, Dec. 23. When Mr. Dennis did not return form the barn to the house at the customary time, his son, Leon, went in search of him and found him lying in a stall, which a high spirited young horse was tied. On examining the prostrate made, it was found that his skull was broken and life was extinct. Just how the horse dealt the death blow will never be known.
Carlton Dennis was the son of John G. & Ella Allen Dennis. He was born Jan. 14, 1871. His early years were spent in the home of his uncle, Warren Dennis. AT the age of 21, he took possession of the farm which he inheritedof his grandfather, Briton Allen, and here the remainder of his life was spent.
He is survived by his father, John G., his wife and five sons, Ray, Leon, Clarence, Iva & Leslie. Also one brother, Gilman Dennis and several sisters. (another newspaper article mentions a Carlton Dennis Jr., and John as sons)...perhaps some nicknames??
Mr. Dennis was a good neighbor and a honorable man in all business relations. The funeral was held at his late home Sunday. CC Savage of Delphi Falls was the funeral director & Rev. Carter of the same place conducted services. Internment at Fabius.
