Mrs. Guiggey graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1921 and Farmington Normal School in 1923, and taught school for a brief period of time. She married Robert M. Guiggey of Westfield on Sept. 16, 1927. During the later period of the 1930s she was employed as a correspondent for the Bangor Daily News in the Presque Isle area. She entered into a profession, from which she would retire in the fall of 1969, following a rewarding career with the United States Postal Department.
Widowed on March 28, 1961, she filled her life with numerous activities and interests, personal as well as in association with family members and friends. She" was an active member of the Bethany Baptist Church from its beginning in the early 1950s. She was a member of Lunar Chapter #126 Order of the Eastern Star for many years as well as a member of the American Baptist Women's Association, the Women's Christian Temperance Union and was a former member of the Business and
Professional Women's Club. Among her many interests were sewing, knitting, reading, rug making, oil painting and candlepin bowling.
Always enjoying her visits with I family members, traveling was always enjoyable, especially her European tour in the spring of 1963, and twice she was able to enjoy Hawaii. Remaining in her home until November 1997, she found it necessary to move into an assisted living apartment.
She is survived by two sons, John and his wife, Connie, of Woburn, MA, Robert and his wife, Gloria, of Topsfield, MA; and one daughter, Rowena and her husband Herb Johnson of Portsmouth, NH; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Alice Widdowson of Largo, Fla., and a brother, Charles E. Everett of Waldoboro; two sisters-in-law, Robert Guerrette and her husband, Raphael of Caribou, and Doris Guiggey of Westfield; one brother-in-law, Kermit Bridges of Mars Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, T. Earle Everett; two sisters, Florence Goodwin and Clara Conklin; two step sisters, Mae E. Chandler and Minnie Isabelle E. Hone.
