Rayford enlisted with the Army on 15 Nov 1945 at Newport, Kentucky to serve during WWII. He served in the German Campaign.
SFC King had retired, but re-enlisted to serve in Vietnam. He arrived in Vietnam 27 June 1970 and was assigned to the 1st Logistical Command, Support Command Da Nang, 490th GS Company, USARV
Rayford suffered from a stroke while in Vietnam and died.
Survived by his wife, Betty Laura (Cooley) King and their son, Douglas Rayford King and his parents.
