Ed Baker, age 74, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at his home. He was born on August 16, 1941, in Johnson County, Mountain City TN to the late Dorothy Baker Thomas.

Ed worked for several years for Greever and Walsh Textiles. He was very well known around town. You may have seen him walking down East Mountain City hill headed towards Food Country, make a pass through Farmers State Bank, then up Main Street to Mountain View Service station, where he would grab a snack and visit. For several years he would pass thru the Courthouse and for the last ten years, he would make his way down to Mountain City Funeral Home by about 12:30 p.m., where he would visit until closing time. Ed was a member of First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn McFarland Baker; sons: Darrell Baker and fiancé Tammie of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Farrell McFarland of Indianapolis, IN grandchildren: Theo Baker and wife Megan of Gastonia, NC, Brittany Baker of Savannah, GA, Leslie McFarland Jr., Ashley McFarland and Travis Estal all of Johnson City, TN; one great granddaughter, Melia Lynn McFarland; brothers: Kelvin Thomas and wife Caroline of Johnson City, TN and Joey Thomas and wife Anita of Bristol, TN, several nieces and nephews and many special friends.

The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Ricky Campbell to officiate.
Graveside Service and Interment will follow the funeral service from the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be friends.

The family will receive friends at the home 212 Georgia St. Mountain City, TN 37683.
