She was a daughter of the late Hobert and Sarah Hyder Smith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hopkins is preceded in death by her husband, James “J.C.” Hopkins; two sisters, Beulah Carr and Ardelia Ruth Rieger; one brother, William Glen Smith.
She was a member of Union Christian Church, Jonesborough, where she had previously served as Sunday School Secretary. She sang in the choir.
Mrs. Hopkins has volunteered at the V.A. Center for many years.
