JAMES R. HARLAN II, 58, Indianapolis, died Sept. 23. A graduate of Christian Theological Seminary, he was a retired United Methodist minister. He was a Navy veteran and a member of the Stephen Ministry program at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Jonathan's Mouse Fund, 535 Barnhill Drive, Indianapolis, Ind., 46202, or the Stephen Ministry. Services: 11 a.m. Sept. 26 in Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway Chapel, with Calling from 4 to 8 p.m. September 25. Burial: Floral Park West. Survivors: Wife Janet L. Strickland Harlan; children Genny Snell, Libby Ransford, Margaret Gambrall, Jimmy Harlan; brothers John R., Jeff C. Harlan; sister Sarah M. Shaffer, seven grandchildren.
