JOSEPH W. HUMBERT
The funeral for Joseph W. Humbert will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Lincoln Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Interment will be in the memorial park.

He died of lung cancer Monday in his Southeast Portland home. He was 79.

He was born March 27, 1914, in Ogema, Minn. After moving to Portland in the early 1940s, he worked as a millwright. He later worked for Portland Gas & Coke Co., which became Northwest Natural Gas Co. He retired in 1979.

Survivors include his wife of nearly five years, Katherine; sons, Eugene H. of Deer Island, William J. of Gresham and Philip C. of Portland; daughter, Lucille H. Brooks of Clackamas; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His first wife, Helen Humbert, died in 1981. His second wife, Violet Humbert, died in 1986.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to either Willamette Falls Hospital or to the Oregon division of the American Cancer Society.
