CHESTERTOWN — Mervin R. Cohey, 88, of Chestertown, died Sept. 4, 2015, at home.
Mr. Cohey was born Nov. 11, 1926 in Ingleside, son of the late Charles H. and Ella Ireland Cohey. Mr. Cohey began his career working as a farmer and at the Acme, until enlisting in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his honorable discharge in 1947, he continued farming and delivered auto parts for Eastern Shore Auto Supply. He retired from General Foods in Dover, Del. after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Chestertown Church of the Nazarene and American Legion Post 36.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Esther Lucht, in 2014 and eight siblings.
Mr. Cohey is survived by his daughters, Tina Hagelgans of Crumpton and Lori Cohey-Hassell of Brockton, Mass.; son-in-law Robert Hassell; a sister, Betty Lou Walraven of Millington; a grandson, Adam Hagelgans of Charlotte, N.C.; granddaughter Jessica Wolst of Dordrecht, the Netherlands; a grandson-in-law, Randolf Wolst; and a great-grandson, Daniel Wolst.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Chestertown Church of the Nazarene. Burial was in Crumpton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Compass Regional Hospice, 255 Comet Dr., Centreville, MD 21617.

Mervin's home was 2603 McGinnes Rd in rural Queen Anne's County south of Chester River. Kent County is north of Chester River.
