Kenneth F. Layne, 89, of 320 Sumpter Street, Lynchburg, died Sunday, September 22, 1996. Born in Lynchburg, he was the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Malone Layne, and the son of the late Charles Faris Layne and Annie Feagans Layne. Mr. Layne was a retired salesman for Callaham Wholesale Grocery and Produce, a member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and on the Tellers Committee, and a veteran of World War II. Preceding his death was a sister, Thelma Layne Ligon. Survivors include a sister, Doris L. Rosenberger of Roanoke; three nephews, Howard C. Ligon, Paul White and John Malone, and three nieces, Pat White, Marian Butler and Martha Alexander. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. James E. Baucom officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Diuguid Rivermont Chapel from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
