Douglas (Doug) Edward Franklin born April 23, 1963, in Oxnard, Calif., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, at the age of 52 at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene.

Doug lived the past 16 years in Spirit Lake, Idaho. He spent most of his life enjoying the great outdoors and had a love for jet-skiing, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. His life was led by his work owning his own excavation company and enjoyed operating his heavy equipment.

Doug was known for being the life of the party through his humor and making the best margaritas.

He is survived by his mother, Claire Horton; sister Donna Hense-Niclai; niece Tanya and Mike MacAlevy; great-nephews Gabriel and Parker MacAlevy; niece Jennifer and Ryan Smith; and great-nephew and niece Promise and Maxwell Smith.

Our beloved son, brother, uncle and great-uncle will be forever missed. May you rest in love and peace.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, in Priest River, Idaho, at the Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River, with interment to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery.
