Mrs. Martha F. Padgett, 91, of Jarratt, widow of Paulous A. Padgett, died Monday, October 20, 2003. She is survived by two sons, Charles A. Padgett and wife, Juanita of Concord, Va., Clyde T. Padgett and wife, Mary Lou of Dinwiddie; four daughters, Eleanor P. Seamans of Chase City, Elizabeth P. "Lou" Harrell and husband, Clyde of Jarratt, Elsie P. Newsome and husband, Tommy of Emporia, Barbara P. Holloway and husband, Billy of Jarratt; one foster child, Lovenia "Lovie" T. McCorquodale and husband, Bill of Westminster, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Betty Padgett of Jarratt; a sister, Dolly White of Madison Heights, Va.; 29 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Padgett was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Jeanette Padgett; two sons, Glenn E. Padgett, Preston A. "Arnold" Padgett; and three grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (tonight) at Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, where the funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, October 23. Interment will follow in Greensville Memorial Cemetery.
