Bob was the son of the late James Robert and Julia Gertrude Hunter Barnhill. He was also preceded in death by brothers, William Edward Barnhill, Sr. and James Ronald Barnhill.
Bob leaves behind to celebrate his life, a brother; two sisters; three nephews; three nieces; as well as several great-nephews and -nieces. Included also are dear friends and Cleveland family, Janet and Bob.
Bob was employed at the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District as an Occupational Health/Workers Compensation Administrator. In 2013, Bob received the designation of Associate in Risk Management (ARM) from The Insurance Institutes. Bob was the first Certified Workers' Compensation Professional in the State of Ohio and in the initial 30 in the country to receive this designation.
After graduating from Herbert Hoover High School, he graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Bob was an assistant designer at Ithaca College and full designer at the Village Dinner Theater in Erie, Pa., before moving from Charleston to Ohio. Bob enjoyed working in the arts in Charleston, both in the Light Opera Guild and the Kanawha Players, appearing in many productions, including some favorites of Godspell. Bob joined other members of the original cast for a reunion last year when Godspell was performed again for Charleston audiences. Bob enjoyed meeting up with his old friends and reminiscing about old times.
Bob's family and his many friends will miss him but will remember, with a smile, his dry wit and all the fun times.
Bob's family would also like to thank the Western Reserve Hospice and Cleveland Clinic for their kindness to Bob.
A service will be held for Bob at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor David Keeney officiating. Burial will follow Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, for visitation.
