Ruth Larsen, age 95, of Marshall, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Funeral services are 11:00 AM Monday, November 16, 2015 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Marshall. Following a luncheon, Interment will be in the Danebod Cemetery, Tyler, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 PM Sunday, November 15, 2015, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Monday at the church.

Ruth Louise Goodmonson was born to Sydney and Amelia (Pedersen) Goodmonson on February 9, 1920, in Murray County, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school in the Ruthton area.

On July 2, 1938, Ruth was united in marriage to Casper “Cap” Larsen in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Marshall (except for a short time in South Dakota) and raised four children. Ruth worked part-time at A&W, Swift’s, and the mink farm to earn extra money for Christmas. She was a loving homemaker and devoted mother. When the kids were grown, she worked at West Side Elementary School as a cook and dishwasher for many years.

Ruth’s enjoyments in life included camping, dancing, and wintering in Texas. Her joy came from spending time with the family she loved so much. She would open her home anytime to visitors for a good cup of coffee and a cookie.

Ruth died on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She had reached age of 95 years, 9 months, and 2 days. Blessed be her memory.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Judy (and Roger) Wartner, Kathy (and Steve) Koch, Karen (and Doug) Schultte; daughter-in-law, Linda Larsen; 16 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and another on the way; 4 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Mae Praske; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Casper Larsen; son, Leland Larsen; infant daughter; granddaughter, Robyn; great-grandsons, Nate and Gavin; parents, Sydney and Amelia Goodmonson; brothers, Kenneth, Chester, and Sherman; and sister, Gladys.
